On November 1st, 2009, the first 25 trees in the Luthergarten were adopted. Church executive Andreas Flade (foreground, accompanied by a student of the Protestant Elementary School in Wittenberg) planted a honey locust tree on behalf of the Protestant Lutheran Church of Mecklenburg, Germany.
