On May 2nd, 2012, Prof. Dr. Timothy A. Bennett and his students (pictured celebrating the liturgy) planted a red maple tree on behalf of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, U.S.A. (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America).

Planting the partner tree :

On May 23rd, 2012, an apple tree was planted on the grounds of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, USA. As a shoot, this tree grew during the Lent and Easter seasons in the University Chapel; now it stands in a parking area not far from the church tower and a statue of Martin Luther. After a German-language worship service, University Pastor Andy Tune led the liturgy for the planting.
