Planting in the Luther Garden :

On November 1st, 2009, the first 25 trees in the Luthergarten were adopted. Cardinal Walter Kasper (front) planted a linden tree on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church, Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

Planting the partner tree :

On January 23rd, 2011, the partner tree of the Roman Catholic Church was planted in Rome. Kurt Kardinal Koch, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, blessed the olive tree which was planted in front of St. Paul’s Basilica (pictured). It is a sign of the growing ecumenical unity between Catholics and Lutherans.
