Planting in the Luther Garden :

On June 12th, 2015, Pastor Joachim Zirkler, Director of Studies of the LWF Center in Wittenberg (right, with certificate), representing Bishop Murray D. Finck, planted a London plane on behalf of the Pacifica Synod of Southern California and Hawaii, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Pastor Martin Eldred and his wife Shelly (left of the tree) were also present and planted a tree on behalf of the Alaska Synod the same day.

Planting the partner tree :

On May 29th, 2015, during the yearly Synod Assembly, the tree for the Pacifica Synod was dedicated. Over 550 people wrote their thoughts on river stones, which on June 10th, 2015, were laid at the foot of the tree. The crape myrtle tree was planted at the Luther Center for Mission and Learning in Santa Ana. In addition, every congregation of the synod was given a tree to plant on their grounds in remembrance of the Reformation anniversary.
