On October 27th, 2010, Bishop Hans-Jörg Voigt (pictured) planted a catalpa tree on behalf of the Independent Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Germany.

Planting the partner tree :

On March 12th, 2011, an apple tree was planted on the grounds of the church offices of the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church (SELK) at Schopenhauerstraße 7 in Hanover, Germany. The tree is a sign of the unity between the Luthergarten in Wittenberg, global Lutheranism, and global Christianity.
