Planting in the Luther Garden :

On September 22nd, 2011, Pastor Dr. Tomi Karttunen, Executive Secretary for Theology in the Church Office in Helsinki, planted a honey locust tree on behalf of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

Planting the partner tree :

On April 9th, 2017, the 460th anniversary of the death of Finnish reformer Mikael Agricola, the Finnish congregation in Turku planted a red oak tree as partner tree for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Prof. Dr. Kaisa Häkkinen (left), professor of Finnish language and one of the best Agricola experts in Finland, took part in the festival. “Mr. Agricola” read Bible verses in Old Finnish from the 1st Letter to the Corinthians.
